Ms. Karen A. Popp (the Co-founder and Global Chair of WWCDA) welcomed the group and the keynote address was delivered by Justice Indu Malhotra, Supreme Court of India.
The launch also included a panel discussion on the topic “Breaking barriers amongst the Legal fraternity” where Ms. Indira Jaising (Senior Advocate), Ms. Geeta Luthra (Senior Advocate) and Ms. Shiraz R Patodia (Senior Solicitor, Dua Associates) shared their thoughts with the moderator of the session, Ms. Saguna Sodhi (Partner, EY).
With this formal inauguration India became the 42nd Chapter of the Association.
WWCDA was founded in 1999 with the Washington D.C. Chapter to address the glaring lack of women in white collar practice and in existing professional white collar organisations. Today it is a coalition of senior women attorneys/professionals who specialize in white collar criminal defence and government investigations.
The India chapter of WWCDA initiated by the three senior women professionals aims to build relationships between other senior women attorneys in India and global counterparts who work in a diverse range of white collar practice areas including white collar litigation, fraud, internal investigations, regulatory prosecutions, compliance and corporate governance and advisory matters.
