Workshop Conducted By Dua Associates Bangalore

Dua Associates Bangalore successfully conducted the workshop on ‘The Deconstruction of Food Licensing’ at the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce, on November 16th 2018.

The workshop was conducted by N.U. Subaya – Partner and his team-mates – Janini Somiah and Aishwarya Shankar. The main thrust of the workshop was on giving the participants an overview of the applicable provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011 together with the interpretational issues related to the same. We further focussed on the manner in which applications may be made for obtaining a license/ registration and the issues/ nuances involved while making an application, and subsequently obtaining a license/ registration.

The workshop was conducted over a period of 2 (two) hours, and was very interactive. We had the representatives of various companies discussing the issues that they have faced while obtaining licenses under the applicable laws, and us discussing the possible methods that they could have used in relation to the same. The session was very well received and Janini, who has been working hands on, in relation to these aspects over the last 7 years, provided insights which the participants found to be very helpful. There were 12 participants from ITC Limited, from their commercial, procurement and regulatory departments.
